VLC player 0.8.6 update released

Tell me one person who hasnt heard of VLC player ?. Well i would say 9 out of 10 would have heard about it. If not you are going to learn something great. VLC players is perhaps the most popular video player in the market. One being an open source media player. Two being a very efficient media player that is about 10mb in size. Would you beleive VLC player version 0.8.5 had an astonshing amount of 29 million downloads after its release. The latest version of VLC player has 1.4 downloads/sec and from this you can see how popular the player has become to us.

So what exactly seperates VLC player from its so called competitors like
Windows Medial player or the Real player. VLC player supports Windows, Linux and Macintosh Operating systems.

The best feature i like about it is the Mozilla/Firefox plugin that allows you watch video files embedded in the browser.Install this plugin and you dont need a quick time player or Media player to watch videos online.

The other feature that i really like is its ability to play unfinshed, damaged or incomplete audio or video files. It even supports downloading files wiht
BitTorrent and Emule P2p downloading software. Adding on it can even player .iso image files.

So what has VLC player 0.8.6 in store for us and why shoud we upgrade to this new player. I will help you out in making your decision of whether to update or not

VLC has become the first free and succesful cross platform media player. The new feature is that it can be used as a streaming server with extended features like video on demand. What it means is that your system becomes the server and you can provide videos to clients that are on demand for the video. Further VLC also supports passive streaming where the video file is uploaded to a server and the user has no control over the streaming.

From the interface point of view the new version had added hotkeys for crop and zoom of videos being played. It now supports snapshots for http interface. What it simply means making backup copy of files over http interface. Further a no of new skins have been added to the new player

The playlist now supports shoutcast TV listing. VLC media player which can be used as a server and as a client to stream and receive network streams. VLC is able to stream all that it can read.

The new version too provides WMA speech support and VP5/VP6 - Flash Video support. Along with that Additional OpenGL effects (cylinder, torus, sphere)and Direct3D 9 video output (win32). Best served on Vista :)

So the question now is Do we upgrade or not? Well looking at the above features i would defintely update to latest VLC player 0.8.6. For those of you migrating to Windows Vista i would say its a must as it supports Vista operating sysem. The feature that i feel is most improves is its ability to stream videos and support flash files. I have been waiting for this update and thanks that VLC has come in support it .

It supports a wide range of
Video codec formats like 3ivx, Cinepak, DivX, DV, H.263, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, HuffYUV, Indeo 3[7], MJPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, RealVideo[8] , Sorenson, Theora, VC-1[9], VP5[9], VP6[9], WMV, Xvid

Audio Formats: AAC, AC3, ALAC, AMR[6], DTS, DV Audio, FLAC, MACE, Monkey's Audio, MP3, QDM2/QDMC, RealAudio[10], Shorten, Speex, Vorbis, WMA

VLC player might lack the lustre of a
Windows media player. But looking at its performance for a small price. Its simply superb. You can download it here at http://www.videolan.org

I was a huge fan of Vlc player it is a great piece of software.

But i recently came across this software from Moovida an it is amazing!!

It sorts through all the media file on your computer while adding additional information to them, for instance for movie files it will find pictures related to the film an also give a short synopsis even if the film has been downloaded.

Please download for free an enjoy for WWW.MOOVIDA.COM
